For Xiaoyan Rong, jewellery is a bridge connecting different individuals together. Although everyone is special, everything in this world is connected. People can recall what they have experienced through other people’s lives. In her work <Touchable longing> , she uses fur as the main material to express her missing for her pet dog. By wearing this series and touching the fur, she can feel as if her dog is with her. She hopes the audience could also remember the staff that is important to them when they wear her works.

Xiaoyan Rong believes that the material that she chose must be connect to the concept. In the work <Unreachable childishness>, wood is her main material. When she was a child, she was obsessed with beading jewellery that are made by wood. Every time when she picks up the work, she could recall her passing childhood.

首飾對于Xiaoyan Rong來說是一種將不同的個體連接在一起的橋梁。雖然說每個人都是不同的，但世界萬物都是相通的，人們可以透過別人的生活來回憶起自己曾經經歷過的事。在她的作品《可觸碰的思念》里，她用皮毛作為主要材料，來表達她對她的寵物狗的思念。通過佩戴這系列作品、撫摸毛發這一動作，可以讓她感覺她的狗似乎就陪伴在我的身邊；她希望觀眾在佩戴她的作品時也可以想起對他們重要的事物。

她認為選擇的材料必須依附于概念，在作品《無法重新擁有的童心》里，木頭是她的主要材料，當她還是個孩子時，她癡迷于木質的串珠玩具首飾，每當她拿起這件作品時，她都可以回想起已經逝去的童年。
